
Cast is seeking an experienced senior leader to join us as Board Chair Designate.
As an Arts Council England NPO and Theatre of Sanctuary, Cast welcomes over 120,000 people annually across 300+ performances and community projects. Following the appointment of Director James Blakey, you will lead our Board through an exciting period of strategic planning (2027-2032) and governance oversight.
What We're Looking For:
- Senior/executive leadership experience from any sector.
- Strong governance, strategic, and financial/data literacy.
- Passion for community engagement, equity, diversity, and the arts.
Commitment: 4 quarterly meetings (in person at Cast) + 1 Away Day per year, plus attendance at key events.

Provide strategic leadership and governance oversight to Cast's Board of Trustees.
Line-manage and act as a critical friend/soundboard for Cast's Director, James Blakey.
Advocate for Cast locally, regionally, and nationally, acting as a passionate ambassador for our mission and values.
Ensure financial sustainability, risk mitigation, and compliance with Charity Commission regulations in collaboration with our parent organization, DCLT.
Senior Leadership Experience: Proven experience at executive, board, or equivalent strategic levels.
Governance & Scrutiny: Strong understanding of charity oversight, risk, and financial/data literacy.
Inclusive Values: A deep commitment to equity, diversity, accessibility, and environmental responsibility.
Relationship Builder: Ability to foster collaborative links with local authorities, funders (including ACE), and strategic partners.
