Research has shown that peer support can have a positive effect on a parents mental health and the relationship they have with their baby. Volunteers who have their own experience of being a parent and/ or of mental health concerns play a special role in Light. Not only can they relate to parents on a personal level but they can offer them the empathy and support that many parents desperately need.
This is an opportunity to make a difference, listening & sharing, as well as supporting parents in a safe, non-judgmental group environment (2-3 hours a week).
Light is a registered charity that was set up by a group of Sheffield mums, each with their own individual stories to raise awareness and offer peer support to families who are struggling with their mental health, during pregnancy and up to 2 years postnatal. We now support families across South Yorkshire
