IDAS (Independent Domestic Abuse Service) is looking for enthusiastic volunteers for a rewarding role in assisting with our clients in dispersed properties. This is a hands-on role which includes actively supporting clients in a practical way.
IDAS dispersed properties provide a safe living environment for victims who are escaping domestic abuse. Being residential in nature, there are many and varied opportunities for volunteers including orientation and welcoming of new residents to the area; assisting in the preparation of vacant properties; providing a listening ear; and directing or accompanying clients to appointments.
The volunteer will understand the importance of working in a trauma-informed way and can maintain professional boundaries while in the residential setting. IDAS offers the opportunity to volunteer within a specialist charity doing vital work to support victims and survivors of domestic abuse. We offer thorough and on-going training to our volunteers and additional shadowing of our Practitioners.
We are ideally looking for volunteers who can dedicate half a day per week and have access to their own vehicle. Travel expenses are covered.
Volunteers will have:
A strong commitment to and understanding of confidentiality
GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) adherence
An understanding of Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence is desirable
DSB (Disclosure & Barring Service) clearance is essential – can be provided by IDAS.
